1 large sweet onion, thinly sliced

3/4 cup beef stock

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 tablespoon cracked black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

4 kaiser burger buns, sliced

8 slices smoked cheddar cheese

Ketchup

Mustard

1 head romaine lettuce

1 tomato, sliced

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Top a large, foil-lined baking sheet with a wire rack. Place bacon in single layer. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until crispy.
  3. Preheat a large pan over medium heat. Add butter and melt until foam has subsided.
  4. Add sliced onion and cook until golden brown, about 10 minutes.
  5. Add beef stock, bring to a simmer, and reduce until almost evaporated. Transfer onions to dish.
  6. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  7. In a small bowl, mix garlic, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
  8. Add dry mixture to ground beef and mix.
  9. Add Worcestershire sauce to ground beef mixture.
  10. Form ground beef mixture into 4 patties.
  11. Grill burgers 5-7 minutes on each side, until an internal temperature of 160 F or the burgers are cooked to your liking.
  12. Place 2 slices of cheese on top of the burger during the last 30 seconds of cooking and close grill lid to melt.
  13. Add 1 patty, 3 slices of bacon, and 1/4 of the onions to each bun. Top with ketchup, mustard, lettuce, and sliced tomato. Enjoy!
