Japanese Beef Skewers

A marinade of soy sauce, garlic, and sugar adds the perfect umami to these Furikake-covered Natural Angus New York strip skewers.


2 lb Aspen Ridge New York strip

½ C sugar

²∕3 C soy sauce

2 cloves garlic, diced

2 Tbsp furikake

2 C whole fresh mushrooms

2 Tbsp vegetable oil

2 green onions, chopped



  1. Mix sugar, soy sauce, garlic, oil, and green onions.
  2. Slice New York strip into 1”x1” pieces and coat with marinade. Refrigerate for 2-4 hours.
  3. Skewer beef and mushrooms on wooden or metal skewers – discard marinade.
  4. Grill skewers over medium to high heat for 3 min per side for medium rare.
  5. Top with furikake.
