Braised Swiss Steak



  • 2 pounds Aspen Ridge® flank or skirt steak, cut 1-inch thick
  • 2 Tablespoons dry bread crumbs (packaged)
  • 1 (8-ounce) can stewed tomatoes
  • 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup chopped celery
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed

1. Combine bread crumbs, salt and pepper. Sprinkle half of crumb mixture on steak. Pound into steak with wooden mallet. Repeat on other side. Cut steak into 6 portions. 2. Melt butter in large dutch oven. Add steak; brown on both sides over medium heat. 3. Add tomatoes, onion, celery, garlic and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to boiling. 4. Reduce heat, simmer, covered for 2 hours or until meat is tender.
